So what do you guys think.....

Post by 8541Hawk »

As I'm the new kid on the block....lol here is close to where she sits right now though there have been a few minor changes and I do have a set of Gillis rear sets sitting in a box......

So bought the bike new in 9\97. Though I'm now confused what to call it...lol FireHawk......though SuperStorm does have a nice ring to it.....lol

First new bike I had ever bought..... swore I wouldn't mod this one....lol lasted a while with just slip ons, re-worked stock suspension with a brace, SP2 calipers and master.

Nice bike and easy to go back to stock.....

Then had a friend call up and say come get these forks before I throw them in the trash, I'm damn tired of tripping on them..... and as he used to race an SP2 I said I'm on my way...... that was the start..... next on the list is an engine as I now have the chassis where I want it.

I'll see if I can dig up a dyno chart, not sure if it made the last comp change over but it was 114bhp & 74 Lbs\ft though dyno number do vary widely and I only use them for back to back comparison and it was 15K miles ago but she still pulls nice and hard.

Oh and sorry for the American spellings.....I'm still new....lol

Color: was red, now black, not sure what is coming next but I do have a couple of ideas.....

Engine:
Lightened Flywheel
Ported heads
HRC jet kit
HRC ECU
Akrapovic full exhaust system with carbon cans
Stick Coils
Dr. Honda velocity stacks
Modified Airbox
Flo-Commander
Degreed cams

Suspension & Brakes:
RC51 SP2 forks w\ Ohlins internals set up by Dan Kyle
SP2 Master Cyl & Calipers
Vesrah RJL pads
SP2 Front Wheel
CBR1000RR Front Rotors
Swatt Clip ons
Braced swimgarm
Ohlins Shock with ride height adjustment
CBR900rr Rear Wheel
Hybrid ceramic wheel bearings
EBC Pro-Lite rear rotor

Other Stuff:
Gilles Rearsets
All S\S Braided lines
16\41 Gearing with Super-lite 520 Sprockets & D.I.D. Chain
Shortened rear fender
Two Brothers Passenger Peg Eliminators
Sargent seat
FH020AA regulator\rectifier
Shorai Battery
A bunch of Ti bits
Lightened sub-frame
aftermarket rear turn signals
and other stuff that I don't remember at this time......

And if you want a "going home from work with a loaned GoPro to see how it works" ride along, here you go

Like I said, not hauling the mail, so don't expect to be impressed. Just my old ride home, which kind of beat the "short" way which was a hyw.....

Nice, but I must say red would be even better :-). Lighter wheels could be the next mod. I did this year, and saved 0,78 kg (1,72 lb) on front and 1,57 kg (3,46 lb) on rear.

Actually the suspension I'm running does help hide how rough that road is in some sections.

An example is ay 6:18, you come out of that corner at 70-80 and while it's not IOM air the bike does clear around 3 feet or so of air on that bump.....

Then at 7:38 is another reason you see me check my speedo from time to time..... Yes that is a deer on the side of the road and then running off.

So while the bike and the road wants you to wind it up, you need to "self limit" in areas due to driveways, deer and damn turkeys which are the biggest hazard.... :eek2

Thx 8)

It was one of the older GoPro cameras. The only thing I didn't like about it was there was no external mic jack.
That is why the wind noise takes over @ anything over 70mph...... :shh:
