Just got VTR, and I am smiling

Post by piggy1 »

Hi all I have this week just got me a firestorm and I am loving the thumper, I had an SV650 which I have already forgotten about.
I have a yellow 97 firestorm and its only done a genuine 14k
Have anyone got any advice you on what I should do or to avoid, as I have read a few things about the Cam Chain Tensioner’s going early on.

It’s got a set of ART cans on and OH MY does it sound great but I think my neighbours have raised a few eyebrows, oh well

Welcome to the fast yellow VTR club mr piggy

Do the CCT (stopper or manuals), replace the regulator/rectifier unit with a newer one with fins, strip and grease the rear suspension linkage and the ride it :D

Hi thanks for such quick reply :o

im not sure about the CCT I think its standard, with the regulator/rectifier is it cause they fail or to just improve on standard one, should I replace it with an upgraded one on ebay.

I cant stop riding it i just makes me smile like a baby

Don't listen to lloydie, he is confused (on many levels  ...

R/r fails and boils the battery so look in the workshop knowledge base and there are lists of bikes that have a newer plug and pay solution.

Put your location into your details and then if there is any local owners close by they can offer help on the CCT changes

they get dried out by the rear headerpipe being so close.
