The grossGlockner pass was all i remembered it to be and more, not 1 other Firestrom did i see on the trip. i did see the new "Suzuki V Strom" up there being tested and that did look smart, The highlight of the trip for me was all the mountain tunnels and the shear noise that emulated from my bike as i blasted through the mountain Passes. I met some fantasic people during those 10 days and the run up to the Glacier was filled with bikes diving in amounst a never ending line of coaches was awsome.
I met a german guy who had a Ducati S4 and he couldnt belive how good the Storm was, he had just had a 900Euro service done on the bike and it was coughing and spluttering up the whole pass, he was truly amazed with how well i was blasting out the corners.
I was intending to check fuel and keep petrol cost etc but in the end i just filled it up and paid by visa, i will let you know the cost when the bill comes in. The Grossglockner was the best 23 euro i have ever spent though.
I hit 150 on the german autobahn( that is quite scary with cars still passing me) for a few miles but bloody hell the old fuel gauge was going down like the rev counter going up. but to ride at 100 for a couple of hours was great. The bike got so may looks at all the petrol stations and mountain passes mainly due to the noise i think.
The white wheels have come up lovely after the trip and iam sure that the good polish i gave them did the trick. I only had to adjust my chain once too. Rear tyre is almost worn out so i will have to get another set on this weekend. The schnitzels and Apple strudl were as good as ever.
Iam still buzzing after this trip and will send in some pics soon. the storm maynot be the best touring bike out there but i was always smiling and fuel consumption!!! dont give a jot. Gonna spend the next 2 days removing flys from my trousers and textile jacket!!!.
