Top yoke conversion problem

For some reason I seem to be struggling with everything! (Can I use the 'Essex' card for all my downfalls Mac? )

I can't get my throttle cables to route anywhere without causing them to kink or get squashed

Any tips?

Eh try undoing the nut where they go into the throttle housing, turn the metal bit to a new position & tighten it back up. Try various angles of dangle until happy.

Jamie, you will need to move your Brake lines, but the throttle cables will stay where you have them. I will send photos of where mine are

Fazer runs them above the bar, is that worth a try, it's quite a neat solution. So they go up and forwards, then turn down between the stanchions.

I can't get enough length to go round the front of the fork tube (like standard iirc), it's not like I've got ape hangers either

You will need to loosen the throttle cables to their max both ends. Bars and carbs.

My throttle cable runs above the brake lever and round the outside of the fork .

They really help, I ended up with the same layout as you Ali, seems to work ok and it's good to see someone else with the same setup.

The only problems I encountered were:

1- removing the shear bolts - angle grinder

2- routing the throttle cables - got there in the end.

3- Galfer brake hoses are too short! Managed to get a local hose shop to make some better quality ones up for half the price, also had the choice of blue, red, white & black! Went black because I'm boring.

So, very minor problems overall

I took it for a little spin round the block, my first impressions are...

- I have to be a little more sensitive with steering inputs, those wide bars have lots of authority!

- field of vision is really good as I'm more upright so I'm not bending my neck round my shoulders to look around.

- wheelies are much more stable

- Kneedowns: no problem! Difficult to gauge exactly how much more tyre I have left but, I'll get that lean angle memory built up over time

- new braided hoses have transformed the feel of the front brakes, much more positive.

- could do with moving the levers towards the center of the bars a bit more as I'm pulling with my two fingers very close to the pivot, meaning it takes more effort as there's less leverage.

- skinny, medium renthal grips make me feel like I'm on my crosser!

Overall, very pleased with the change, but it does feel odd at the moment. Soon get used to it though.
