Harris rearsets

Post by gl_s_r »

Can someone please post me up a picture of their Harris rearsets so I can see along the length of them... kind of looking down on them like they are mounted on the bike and you are on the seat?

Or even just tell me in words if the main large plate that bolts to the swingarm and the pegs etc attach to has any type of bend in it???

Thanks in advance :D

No bend in them there Mark. That part is the same as the standard ones and the plate that comes of there (all one piece) is central to the round flat that mounts to the swingarm, Hope that makes sense, it's hard to explain but the following link has some good close up pics.

If you want more pics I shall go out in the wet  and take some.

Thanks Carl,

I presumed there shouldn't be any bends in them but wanted to make sure.. don't worry about any extra pics as it is sh1tty out there and happy to take your word for it.

The set I was looking at looks like they have a nice ocean swell going through them.

Cheers again fella

Hold on Mark you made me go and double check

I was wrong there is a slight angle but I don't know what the angle is. Anyway here's some close up's. Sorry the quality/lighting is not very good.

I didn't check the gear selector side though. I shall have a better look in daylight tomorrow when it's not raining.

The ones I have here have the bend in a different position, around half way back where yours looks to be at the front.

I just presumed that there shouldn't really be any bends in there at all, as if there is, then the footpeg and levers will not be perpendicular to the bike.. which I thought is what they would want to be.. 90 degrees to the bike?

Thanks Mac,

They are pretty much straight then, or near as.

I'll just straighten them out till the footpeg is at 90 degrees to the mounting face.

Thanks Fellas

So mine are bent then. :( Oh well at least it gives me more lean  I may have to heat them up and bend the other way one day.

Mine are bent in on one side, but then they only cost me £20. They should be straight, so I need to heat and straighten them, or buy a replacement back plate.
They're for an R1, but I have a plan.....

The other thing with all of these rear sets is I've seen about 4 different types of footpegs on them...

These ones here are different to both of yours Mac and different to the one I see on Carl's.. I would assume carls and your right one to be correct as it appears to be the more common one?

Maybe the replacement pegs are slightly different, they can still be purchased. Also there is more than likely third party copies out there which would most likely differ slightly.

Have spoken to Harris today, they stock...

levers (both sides) but are the new style with a flip up toe peg.

Left side hanger (original)

Gear rods (in both lengths to suit your setup)

No longer have any original foot pegs (he said he made around 50 pairs in 1998 for the anniversary model, they came with a rubber top), so these will be new style as listed on the website.

That's it!

I would guess the rearsets, when available as a full set were sent out with whatever the latest style of foot peg was at the time, therefore a few differing styles.

To low? You should be able to adjust the angle of the dangle on the levers.
