Swingarm brushed ally look!

Anyone any suggestions how to clean up swingarm to look like original brushed ally look same as top sections of frame? Thinking scotchbright pads might do it

If it has been polished before and the coating has gone you could try brushing clear Lacquer on it

The surface has some sort of treatment on it, and the get a decent finish you'll have to strip that off first. Keep all of the scotchbright movements in a horizontal direction and you'll get a similar finish, but it'll probably need lacquering afterwards to stop it discolouring or marking up.
Be careful to degrease well before lacquering or the thumbprints will etch into the metal under it.

Try a test area on the inside of the arm first but a brass wire wheel in a drill would probably work.

Don't think its been polished previously mate, its just dulled off whereas the frame is still nice looking

Paint stripper before you start polishing? Don't leave it on for long though.

There was an item in Practical Sportsbikes recently where they restored a polshed slabby GSXR frame back to the factory look. They used Scotchbrite pads lubricated (easy Lloydie!) with WD40.
