Hello Newbie Firestorm owner :)

Hello all,

I'm a newbie here and was informed of this site by one of the locals on another motoring website.
I recently picked up a 1997 Firestorm to ride during the winter, whilst my Aprilia RSVR is retired to the garage, and i'm very impressed with the bike so far and they do sound great, even with the stock cans on. I'm loving how easy it is to ride this bike and the fact that they are, from what i've read cheap to maintain, I know that my fully comp insurance is pennies compared to the insurance for the RSVR.

My Firestorm is pretty much standard in terms of spec, which is great, but i would like to update the exhaust to something that will allow the bike to grumble along. I've watch clips on Youtube and found that the Devil cans make the most awesome sound and for the last three weeks i've been trying to track down a set, with no luck.
Hopefully i may have some luck with this website, fingers crossed, but otherwise what would be a good alternative to Devil?
That cans don't necessary need to increase performance, as there is already enough from the bike, but they do need to have the low down growl.

Anyhow, i look forward to speak to you all
Cheers

Hi Deano, welcome aboard mate, have a look on ebay, there are loads of cans to choose from, or you could just do the bafflectomy on your standard cans

oh there are definitely many different brands to choose from on ebay, but i don't know how they sound.
But the ones that impressed me the most were the Devil cans, which seem to be like rocking horse poo.

What is this process you talk about, with the standard cans?

welcome to the club deano, great bike even for a winter hack.

trouble with youtube clips is it will be impossible to get a good sound quality and hence a back to back comparision will not be much good for choosing exhausts.

as its a winter hack, pick up any of the 2nd hand options on e-bay etc and give them a try rather than put some nice ones on it now and watch them rot or get scratched.

search the workshop section for the key jobs you need to check, then it will serve you well all winter.

Hi there and welcome

I can recommend Werx cans for value, sound and quality. I have a set which have a really deep boom when you take out the removable baffles  I have recently got a set of Moriwaki cans which I might use instead as they are a bit lighter.

Here's a good thread to read through for a comprehensive low down on storm ownership...

Hi, welcome to the Forum. The Storm will serve you well and will of course come through the Winter miles better than the Italian shite. :biggrin
