Ccts swapped! Video added
Well I went for it today! The manual tensioners I ordered off rob in holland on New Year's Eve turned up this morning(very quick delivery!) so I thought as I've got a day off I'd have a go.
All came apart fairly easily, the hardest part was lining up the timing marks and cams on the rear! No matter how many times I lined up the rt mark, the cams were facing away from each other, but after about 10 attempts at turning it round, suddenly it all lined up right! Plenty of liquid gasket round the bolt and I tightened it up til there was about 7mm slack on the chain. All put together again, and on go the front. Didn't take the cover off the front, but followed the guide and turned the engine 1.25 turns til the ft mark lined up and hoped that the cams were in the right position! Anyway, I tightened up the cct finger tight til it started to tighten, and then backed off by about 1/8 turn. I turned the engine over by hand and there was no noise or unexpected tightness, so I put everything back together. Only difficult part really was the front breather under the airbox! How small do your hands have to be to get that on right!
Then the nervous part came, key in, starter pushed, and she fired up straigt away. There is a bit more noise than before, seems more clattery, but that could be in my head as I'm actually listening for noises now! Quick spin and it runs as good as before, clean through the rev range, so I'm guessing I can sort of call it a success!!
Should the clattery noise be there, or would a bit of tweaking with the tensioners solve that?
Cheers
Dan

Re: Ccts swapped!
possibly that one of the tensioners are slightly loose, you can loosen the lock nut and adjust the cct whilst the bike is running. You can hear the chain rattle when loose and as you tighten it will quieten up. This is what I did with mine to get them right.

Re: Ccts swapped!
Thanks, I might give that a try tomorrow. Is it possible to adjust the front one while the bike is all together and running? There doesn't look to be much room for access through the frame.

Re: Ccts swapped!
with the cct's you have one will be difficult to adjust whilst the bike is running, I thin it is hidden behind the thermostat housing, but is possible.

Re: Ccts swapped!
I think I must have turned it over by hand at least that many times too! I've watched a few vids on YouTube of storms and a few have the same clattery noise so maybe it's normal and I'm just hearing it now cause in nervous! Lol
If anyone on here has a bid of their bike idling after putting manuals in if appreciate it if you could put it up so I can compare. I'll try and get one of mine tomorrow to put up to get opinions.
Magnum, I was going to get a set off bazzas too, I just happened to have a bit if spare cash and a few days off, and bazza hadn't got any available, so I went for the kriegers. From what I've seen on here, bazzas are easier to adjust.

Re: Ccts swapped! Video added
I tried adjusting the rear as that's where the noise seems to be coming from, but as it went in, the rattle noise didn't stop, but the engine did! Backed it out to where I started and the bike fired back up. There was no whiny noise before, just stalled.
The front doesn't seem to be as noisy but it could just be how I'm hearing it.
My worry is if the timing jumped on the front when I did that one, as I didn't take the cover off, just turned the crank 1.25 turns. If that was the case, would I get noises like this, or would I expect worse? As I said, it seems to run pretty well, although I've not gone at it hard.
