Wanted: standard swingarm

Post by Jamoi »

As per title, if anyone has one cluttering up the mancave and wish to pass it on cheaply... I'd like it!

Planning on an under brace.

(I'm struggling to get clearance on my braced swingarm with the mori cans)

Think I have one at work... Can't remember what condition but if your working on it anyway it should be fine.
Why ask... sometime you just go to do it and find out?

Look great but from what I read a nightmare to do due to the linkages and rear header loop

Sounds like a perfect addition to the new thread you've created for your bike and the next evolution of it... The underslung brace!

Oh yes! I just missed out on a fireblade swingarm on ebay, which is a bit gutting.

I'll look out for the relevant swingarms and make a start at some point.

Are there any standard braced swing arms that fit a storm without too much work?
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!

Jamie given your talents (?) with copper, couldn't you utilise a length to fabricate a brace template to judge clearance issues etc. Bit of tape or some such to hold it in place should give you a better idea whether it's a goer or not.

Well here is what a under-slung brace looks like when it is fitted to a VTR

I don't think so, unless you get lucky and find a Spondon one or find someone who has done all the hard work to a standard one and finds out it doesn't work with their cans! Grr

Cheers for the idea Kev

I think a blade brace with the front mount ground off, so it's just welded near the wheel spindles would work fairly easily.

I'm speechless  that's beautiful, Wicky sent me a pic of a Spondon swingarm, that looks a lot like this.

Everyone to their own, but I don't like the look of the low slung brace.

I agree, that looks bloody awful. Stevie wonder would like to see it though.
