Essex workshop day - Colchester - Sat 26th April 2014
Essex workshop day - Colchester - Sat 26th April 2014
I will be hosting a workshop day on Saturday 26th April 2014 at my house in Colchester, Essex.
10:00 till 18:00ish
Q - what's this all about?
A - The workshop day is open to all forum members and is predominantly a good opportunity to carry out any work to your bike in the company of experienced Storm owners, who will be on hand to help you through the process.
Rather than doing the work FOR you, we will do the work WITH you, giving you the knowledge and confidence to carry out more jobs to your bike in the future.
There will be members who are just coming along for the fun of it and the chance to escape the house for a day, which is fine... they can make the tea
Q - Where is it?
The Location is: my house which is very close to The Pointer pub in Alresford, Essex.
http://www.thepointerpub.co.uk
I have a good sized, flat driveway and a fairly empty garage, plenty of room for a good gathering!
For my address: please send a private message requesting it closer to the time.
Or,
If you have less than 50 posts, please post a reply below asking for the exact location and I will PM you.
Q - What type of work is possible?
A - Almost anything! Provided you bring the required parts, or make arrangements with a member to bring along specific parts/tools for the job.
There are numerous motorcycle shops close by in Colchester where parts can be sourced, from chain and sprocket kits to the odd bolt or sundry.
Q - What if I get hungry?
A - Eat! I will be happy to provide some form of sliced and cooked animal in a roll/baguette, biscuits, etc. Plenty of tea, coffee, water or ginger beer.
Or, there are shops nearby that will sell you some food, if you beg.
Or, there is a pub within a stones throw.
Q - Are there any tools provided?
A - Yes.. to a degree! I have the following:
X1 abba stand
X1 rear paddock stand
X1 large vice
X1 Socket set
X1 allen key set
X1 oil filter wrench
X1 Trolley jack
X1 grinder
X1 Ceiling hoist
X1 Soldering iron with solder etc
And Various hand tools etc.
You may notice there is only one of everything above, so to avoid waiting for a 10mm spanner which another member might be stirring his tea with, I suggest you think about what tools you'll need for your planned work.
Q - Will it rain?
A - Ok now you're being silly, this is Britain! So, if there's light rain I have a pop up gazebo for the driveway and there is room in the garage.
If the weather forecast is really bad, we may have to reschedule for the next weekend.
Q - What do I do now?
A - If you are interested, please reply with the following details:
1 - What jobs you are hoping to carry out.
2 - Your rough location and the estimated distance you are traveling to get here.
Hopefully that's covered it. If you don't really have anything you want to do to your bike on the day and you just fancy a ride out, then by all means come along, it's as much a chance to have a fun day as it is a chance to get those standard cct's changed!

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Well done Jamie for taking the initiative
April is too cold for swimming be good for working on Bikes though unless we get April showers. Yep I shall be up for a workshop day.
For any new comers in case your wondering. A workshop day is a good chance for you to get some work done on your bike under the supervision of those with know how. Ideal opportunity to get them CCT's done if they haven't been done already.

Virt, we will be able to share a full & frank discussion followed by a group hug and share of some lentil dip!!
At the very least the day will give an opportunity to marvel over some of the latest batch of modded bikes.
