Post by countrymick »

the 2 in the steel link wernt even seazed they just fell out as metallic gravel
the center shaft is totally knackered to,ive never seen bearings quite so bad.there is a very slight ovality to the two bolt holes to.
half a mill or so.looks like ebay later.realy glad I checked them now.i better have a look at the swinging arm while its in bits.

Fit grease nipples and give them a lubeing every now and then .
I had linkages of a 5k bike that were scrap .
It's more to do with wether it's been a winter bike and jet washed over mileage .
I also have a set from a 40k bike and they are as new !

Try ebay for whole second-hand linkage replacements if they are that shagged / see the thread in the workshop knowledgebase for where to get new bearing /seals components from.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

I think the main linkage is usable its just the center sleve and 2 bearings that are totaled

I bought my bits from the local Honda dealer, C J Ball. They weren't that expensive really.

Isn't opinion divided re the grease nipple thing?

the roller bearings have seals in there outer edges so in theory grease wont be able to enter even with a nipple fitted.
a yearly strip and check job I think.it also gives you a chance to visualy check the bearings.

I fitted a grease nipples ......

The bearings I got recently have one end open. I fitted them with the closed end on the outside and open end in the middle to take in grease as pumped in via the nipple.

I got all three link bearing pins from David Silver ( about £30)
