Post by Bertiew »

I've spent an hour stripping the storm this afternoon ready to fit my manual CCT'S tomorrow. My question is being as there manual how often do I need to go through this rigmarole to make sure there tensioned correct?

Probably never again mate. After the initial setup, you would be able to adjust tension with everything left alone, not that its likely you will need to.

You will probably need to check & adjust them at the valve clearance check interval. Especially if you need to change any shims.

It's a responsive adjustment, so you will only need to adjust if you hear a slight ticking developing.
Even then, leave it until you're sure you can hear a ticking (no damage will ensue) and then adjust one flat at a time clockwise, just until the ticking goes away. It will probably only be one or two flats.

I wouldn't expect you to have to adjust for two to three years.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
