Swingarm stripdown

Post by mattycoops43 »

Hi peeps

Quick question. stripping my swingarm while it's off to give it a good clean. I have undone the two bolts holing the chain guide/swingarm protector on, but it's held on top and bottom and I can't see exactly how, it LOOKS like it's just a plug into the swingarm and it will pull out, but I have really pulled, and I am worried I am going to break something. Haven't really cleaned it yet, there's not a hidden screw or something is there? Does it just pull out? I am going to have to get prehistoric on it's ass if that's the case.

Thanks

Matt

Yes there are two built in "plugs" that just press fit into holes in the swing arm.
Gently pry from underneath , best if done from both sides of the plug.
i use a automotive body push pin tool.. looks like a v shaped fork.

Or this

But a large flat blade screw driver or two works as well

Hi Matt, Just spray a bit of wd40 or similar where the plugs are held into the swing arm and they will just pop out

Warm it up, lube and pry, then yank….
