Ok guys, she was giving out big time on the way home yesterday with the drop in temperature, stalling and spluttering. Johnny Wishbone suggested Pro Boost, so I got some.
Any advice on how much to add? On the side of the tin the range is from 1% through 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3% mix. The 1% mix in a full tank is 160ml to the 3% which is 480ml per tank. That's almost half the friggin can of it....... (1L tin)
Guess I'm startin at 1%....
Well after that rush of replies I took the first third and last reply and averaged them out.............
There is a guide on the side of the tin giving % concentrations for the additive. I went with a 1.5ish%. I put in about 180ml of the stuff, and filled up the tank to the max. The difference was immediate. The cold running is now almost completely improved. It takes less than half the time to be able to take it off the choke, and it seems sharper too.
Get it before the real cold weather comes in......
... Now why has nobody replied to my question about the SP1 wheels - does nobody like me? is my post invisible? Am I being ignored? Is everybody in on this ...?
Also could try using Dry Fuel in your tank (can't remember who makes it, but it comes in a purple plastic bottle! ). It's supposed to dry up excess moisture and sort out carb icing but it also makes starting a lot easier on cold days. Costs £4.70 a bottle and should last for 5-6 fill-ups.
Used to use it in my other half's old GS and it looked so good I bought the company. Er, no, that's not it
If anyone knows where you can get catering size versions of this stuff, I'd be eternally grateful, 'cos I keep forgetting to get a stock in
Mmm, just did a search for Dry Fuel and can only come up with Dry Nitrous Ox, and a bloke that uses custard powder for flame throwing. The joys of an internet search.
Bink, I'm trying to continue Iwanta's new trend of everyone is obliged to answer each post!! (Sorry Iwanta, someone has to be the brunt of the jokes!!)
RQ, are you sure about the custard powder? I can just imagine you blasting round the country leaving the smell of hot custard behind. You could be responsible for ending every diet going!
Did any of you lot see that brainiacs thing on TV last week as one of them was walking across a swimming pool full of custard without sinking ???
it was well weird
That was cool. Made me want to do it (only I don't have a pool)
Did you know that flour is highly flamable? Seriously...... if you have a blow lamp of any sort, turn it on a pile of flour and it will do nothing, but if you throw a handful at the torch / lamp it's like throwing a cup of petrol at it. (best done in the back garden with nobody around, use small amounts of flour to begin with, the author takes no responsibility for wollys burning their houses / sheds / pets / selves ........... etc etc.)
Oh yeah, in that case, the theory of flame throwers / breathers using custard powder as a fuel could be true. Mmmmm, theres a plan for later....
