Choking

It's cold and my bike doesn't like it. What makes starting even more of a prob is the choke knob retreats to halfway out when I let go, and won't stay fully out. Anyone got an idea what's wrong or how I can fix it? An old wooden clothes peg is standing in at the moment!!

I think that behind the choke knob you will find a knurled plastic nut if you slide the rubber cover off it can be tightened, by hand, until the choke will hold in the position that you set it.
