What are you currently ignoring on your bike?

Post by TravisZack »

Saw this on another forum, thought it might help motivate some people to sort out the little things...

Personally, I'm currently ignoring the frame adjuster bolt which needs replacing so I can fit my crash protectors. I have the bolt (cheers Jamoi), but I don't yet have the enthusiasm to drop the engine out :( The current one is perfectly safe, and I don't even know if I want to fit the crash pads anymore.

Other than that, I should really sync the carbs as they've been off and I've not checked them since.

Come on then people, speak up!

Lots of things which I shall worry about when they get close to breaking  Mainly I'm ignoring a bald rear tyre at the moment as I'm currently enjoying the extra sliding about. Nah seriously though it can wait another couple of weeks and I don't have the time to sort it right now and anyhow it's not quite down the carcase yet, only a slick.

long list of laziness jobs that I am ignoring as its more fun to ride than be stuck in the garage!

1) braced swing arm......... all the bits are sitting under the work bench, needs all the mounting points adjusted so it all fits and then checked with an R1 hugger to make sure I have the angles right. then make the paddock stand mounts, then get the workshop at work to do the job for me in their spare time...........when I am not giving them real jobs.

2) get 6-spoke front wheel off to Maidstone motoliner to get straightened and re powder coated.

3) rewire and professionally install the 12V charger socket that I lashed to the fairing stay prior to the Jamie workshop day

4) repack the Remus CF cans

5) repack the Ti race cans then fit that full systems

6) fit the air screw thumb screws that I imported from USA 3 months ago

7) get the mirror extenders powdercoated or painted as they are covered in stone chips

8) make a new mount for the rear shock remote preload adjuster....... its cable tied to the rear footrest hanger at the moment.

9) get a new seat cover and have more foam added at the nose of the seat with Alastair at elsemade

10) swap left and right gilles rearset foot pegs to the opposite sides, as the knurling on the front edge is getting blunt.

and I am sure there are many more

That's half the battle because there is always something that will need doing whether it's a serviceable item, modification or experimentation. Maybe just give it a wash and lube the chain. It's a case of doing what you can when you feel you have the time, funds and inclination and depending on the order of priorities of things. Sometimes stuff has to be pushed to the side because something else needs to take priority, especially if it's your only ride/daily commute.

Fitting my rear braided brake line...

Fitting my datatag set...

Sorting the fuelling out proper for the pipewerx cans...

The fairly low rear brake pads...

I suppose mine is quite short

Yeah, 4 inches short but honestly the cans do look shorter than that!

Ha, I thought there'd be a good few replies to this!
I guess my list could be longer, but it's a case of things I'll get round to, and things I'm actively putting off!

As mentioned, come winter there'll be plenty of time to get real stuck in, I'd rather keep it as complete as possible at the moment and ready to go. So long as nothing is unsafe, of course.
