vtr1000 jap import

Post by camw1991 »

Hay there im from NZ and just purchased a 97 vtr 1000. I love it but am a bit worried it may be restricted as it has a spped cut. any ideas if it will have a carb reducer and any other restrictors?

One of our Greek members had a Jap import and I pointed him towards a snippet on the Superhawk forum that mentions an instrument console speedo restrictor.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

i"m in hastings, its at 200kph this is achievable in about 4th and gets there with very little struggle, i would like a bit of track use and this could become a pain. Also the bike feels choked, just thought the bike may be restricted somewhere, has zero titanium pipes which may mean the airbox has already been pulled off.

also with a speed cut would the restrictors come hand in hand as the japs needed their bikes restricted for their market?

This below could be the snippet Wicky is talking about.

I cannot say if this works or not, so don't blame me if you try it and something goes wrong. Click the screen shot below to make it bigger,

Yep Jap VTRs I believe are restricted and it's more than just a simple restrictor plates. I think it has something to do with the mapping in the Ignition Control Module (ICM).

Can you just plug in a normal ICM?
