Racing this weekend, Doningto classic festival

Post by popkat »

It's a great weekend's racing with the festival too, lots of old GP machines, club stalls etc.
Come and say hello, I'm going to try and park near the Pit stop bar. Silver Suzuki Katana 1100 number 34, white transit with Bideford Motorcycle Centre on it.

Oh dear another bad weekend racing :( Brakes not working in the wet, it really was too wet to race on Friday and sunday morning but they sent us out anyway, bike was handling odd, aquaplaning in the wet really early and in the dry on Saturday when I went for full lean it just tried to drop from the rear, I was nearly falling off the inside of the bike. The wet caused a misfire that I couldn't get rid of even in the damp on sunday afternoon, so the wet and damp races I was riding at 5k max revs and barely any brakes. I got a class win on Saturday but the rest of the races were just about scoring points.
I need to fix the bike, the misfire hopefully won't be too difficult but the handling might be harder, I've got to measure everything I can to see whats bent, I have a spare swingarm so could change that, I could send the forks off to be straightened if their bent, but if the frames bent then I haven't got the time or money to do a £500 + mile round trip to get it fixed, I' just have to ride it the best I can for the rest of the season... It's really frustrating knowing I can go better and having to be behind people I know I can normally beat

Cadwell is only a few weeks away (6/7th September) so need to get working on it this weeks..

Lloydie, good to meet up again  didn't much time to chat, there's always lots going on a meetings.

Hey popkat,
I'll try to find you at Cadwell in September assuming we don't break anything at Gedinne in a couple of weeks. I've seen your van around at meetings and on the odd occasion when I get to see some racing I've even seen you out on the track. You didn't happen to wander by the Slidey party on Saturday night did you?
