Value of exhausts

Post by Shauned71 »

Hey hey.. looking to extract some expert advice from you guys  I am looking to slowly move over from working on cars for a living to just working on bikes be it breaking a few bikes, doing some shot blasting on parts or polishing, buy tidy up and sell or paintwork/repairs. Got to start somewhere so... bought a hi mileage storm a few weeks back which i was going to use as my run about until i fix my own bike up but have decided to break it, it will be a couple of weeks before i have time to take it apart properly but I have a few bits off it already which i'm looking to sell on. Because I bought another storm i need to get some money back in, sold a few bits already but the one thing i'd like your thoughts on.. what do you think the exhaust is worth? Was thinking of offering it on here and fb pages etc but was also thinking about putting on ebay. Obviously I want to make money but at the same time, hoping that this will develop into more than just one bike I want to try and be selling tidy items at a reasonable price as well.... there are enough robbing gits within the motor trade already and i don't want to be one of them

Few photos below... no dents that i can see or scraps.. will be giving them a good machine polish up before advertising too. Only fault i can see... i'm guessing they are guards as in heat shields on the link pipes, one has parted company. Was also wondering if better to sell links separate to cans  Cans would come with straps, but the hangers as in photo's are just homemade and not very nice at all.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

The link pipes are worth about £90 i reckon. Cans do seem a tad long!!! but they will sell iam sure. put them up for £140.00 glws

because of the minor damage to the linkpipe and the hangers being some what homemade, also the cans are round and not oval, but that's a personal thing, I reckon £150, or you could split them and try to make more money, if they were mint and oval, it would be very close to £200.

Just a thought.. wonder if these would be worth more or less, I can swap my scorpion cans for a pair of remus oval cans. The remus are straight with no nasty scraps etc, only mark is on one can and it's from the strap. Wondering if putting the ovals with the high links would be more attractive

Took the exhaust off this afternoon... cans are clean but there are a few small dings... slight ripple on one can which is covered by the strap (looks like the strap caused it) and 2 small dings (1 on each can) at the rear end on inside.
Also.. found this link on another post http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-VTR1000 ... 7675.l2557 I got the chance to swap the cans themselves for some oval remus which I fancy for my bike so figure if links go for that price then i'll split this lot up. Besides where the one heat guard has come off the pipes are good and i'm sure if someone wanted to make the effort they could grind the little spot welds off and polish them up too. £112 posted for the ones linked above on Ebay so dont think £90 is a bad price for mine delivered. If anyone interested give me a shout... I will ofc stick a post in the sales section.

Seems like you're trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear with the faults listed.
Good luck, though.
it's hard enough trying to start a business.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Stick to painting  That's not shiny, this is shiny.

I can still see the machine marks on the links. It's that eagle eye again!! and if I can see it in pics which hide stuff, what's it like in the flesh. They look better than what they where to begin with but add no value, just saleability.
