Fender Extender

Do they actually help to protect the engine block or are they a gimmick?
It's only £20 to get one, is it worth it?
Anyone fitted one for it's purpose or did you fit it just 'because'?

Their not a gimmick and do work. You get less splash on the front cylinder/plug area with one fitted. I glued and rivited my one into place.

I've got a second hand one you can have for a tenner mate, as carl said, gluing and riveting is nice and strong.

Grinner, I agree with Carl, they definitely do help in cutting down on the amount of crud being thrown up from the front tyre. IMO the front mudguard is ridiculously short, so fitting a fender extender is a good move. It was one of the first things I fitted to my bike when I first got it.

I bought a cheap used carbon extender and it as definitely cut down the amount road crap reaching the engine, so I’d say well worthwhile, Also in place of glue I’d recommend a polyurethane adhesive / sealant like Sikaflex, if you prepare the surfaces right no screws / rivets are necessary.

+1 to the above comments. Anything which cuts down the quantity of muck spraying over the engine is a bonus. Go for it.
