Firing on One

Post by kev64 »

Werent doing much this morning so I thought id take the front plug out to see how things were running. When I put the plug socket on I noticed it was loose, removed it, gap was ok and I refitted.
So now I thought id better take the rear plug and check that, removed plug, gapped ok, refitted.
It was the first time id removed the tank and I didn't really check the pipework etc as it looked obvious at the time.
I refitted all four pipes, but when I started up, the bike ran lumpy and coughed and spluttered a bit.
After the engine had warmed up a bit I realised that the engine was running on the front only, I removed the rear plug cap, no difference.
So I swapped the plugs over still the same, I suspect the coil and have since ordered a s/hand one off the bay
Anything else I could have done, pretty sure the fuel tank pipework is correct

I gotta go out now, so I cant reply

Any help on this matter would be good, thanks
PS, I didn't start the engine this morning so I cant tell you if it was running beforehand, but it was ok the weekend

Thanks , Kev.

The most common fault is fitting the vacuum hose on the bottom outlet spout on the fuel tap (the spout facing the ground) when it should be fitted to the outlet that stick out the side of the fuel tap. The bottom spout is a drain off outlet only,

I'm not sure it's as simple as the vac pipe on the wrong spigot. No vac = no fuel so it wouldn't run...been there done that...

Maybe a trapped or kinked fuel line ?

If it's not running on the rear only it can only be either fuel or electrics.

Quick check on coils is to swap them over & see if the cylinders swap working that will confirm the coil.

If it stays the same it's not the coil...
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...

Rear carb float bowl sits higher than front, so it gives dry 1st when fuel flow is slow. Hence will run on 1
