steering damper

I'm trying to find out the general feeling to having a steering damper on a storm .
I've seen a few can't decide what 1 is best if any and if it actually makes a difference to the handling .next question where is best to get 1 from

If your suspension is set up right you don't need one .
Sprint top mount are very nice (they fit between the tank and top yoke .
Or a old side mount one but these you can't buy new and sprint won't service them any more .

Ohlins still do a side mount but decking expensive .

It would be more use between your legs after a few drinks. Unless your Rossi. Ok for a bit of bling/blagging rights like most things.

While I would agree on the whole, a steering damper is not really necessary on the Storm, but I can see the advantages of being able to fine tune the way your bike handles with one. It's not going to make a huge difference by having one. Things that could make a difference are how you ride (your ability) and where you ride (track days when the bike could be used on it's limits where the suspension is concerned), and a flat bar handle bar conversion meaning less weight is distributed onto the front end, you could benefit from a steering damper with that bar conversion.

As Lloydie says, setting up your bikes suspension properly is more important.

I didn't think it would Help that much tbh just like the look of them and to be honest the way I ride is at a much slower pace then what it would a few years ago .corners are still fun tho

Ah well, seeing as it's mainly for the "bling" factor, how could you possibly not have one

The top mount one (as Llloydie mentions) will be the one to go for, as a side mount version won't be seen so much (assuming you still have the fairing fitted).

It's definitely for the bling factor .I haven't got any newer pics as a few things have changed in the last few weeks

I have an ohlins top mount damper, but I don't have the correct fitting kit....
the fitting kit I have is for a cbr954, the I got the damper serviced buy hm racing so it's like new, but I ain't sure if i'm going to use it, talking to a few faster riders and their opinion is they ain't needed on the storm, but they do look good, there is also the more compact type that sits on the top yoke, can't remember the make tho.

The only problem I could see with the top mounted ones is that it will become a pain to lift/remove the tank possibly Your bike already has the bling factor with that paint job. How about some new cans, fairing lower, carbon frame protectors. Led flashing lights and a Dukes of Hazzard Der de der der der der der der der der der

Pmsl it's now wearing white wheels.braided lines everywhere and samco hoses in white and a black db screen
I'm on the lookout for a full titanium system but while I'm looking I've dropped the exhaust off to a local polishing Co for a bit of a clean up . .
just me wanting everything I can get pro bolt kit next but that may be ott..

You can still get them serviced by one of the technicians who used to work at Sprint... He has set up on his own looking after the old type frame mounted products

I would say if you like to give the storm a good thrashing and live near roughish roads I'd have one on ,my bmw has one as standard and it's laity on the front even now ,my storm was also rather light on the front but I got used to 130 head shaking!

mario no longer does them ,but the moulds were sold to a guy in wales, he's a member now I think, but he's not ready to start producing anything just yet.
you can go to town on these bikes, and end up spending my on bling than the bikes worth in the first place, it's good fun tho...
not to mention carbon clock covers,hugger, wheels, heel plates, front mudguard. oh but don't buy from sebimoto, I bought a carbon seat cover from them, it looks good now, but I had to trim it down to fit....
checkout geelong carbon craft in Australia, not cheap but great quality....

I have always loved them too and there's the added bonus of extra storage space.

I couldn't justify the price of Pro bolt kits. Yeh they look nice and don't rust but I see no point in the Ally kits (apart from weight and looks) as I think they would be too weak for a lot of things they use them on and would soon ware out if being removed and put back much. It would have to be Titanium but that's £££££ If you not fussed about colour then Ti bolts or even Stainless from elsewhere is worth considering if you work out the sizes.
