Need a new brake disc, aprreciate some advice

Post by Stevo Kifaru »

Hi, so I need a new rear brake disc, does any have any recommendations? Must haves or avoid like the plague?

I've looked at Dave Silver spares (£60) and ebay (hoped to have avoided watching the chinese ones but they have their ways of selling from the UK). Do I go for a like for like, a pattern part or a wavy type one? Would it also be good practice to buy new bolts?

They do indeed but you can ofyen tell by the ptice and the syle (layout) of the listings. There is no real performance gains with wavy's it's all about looks.

I have a used Galfer wave rotor that i am parting with. Price is reasonable, though shipping might sting a bit.

have a look here: Galfer Rear Rotor for Honda CBR600RR CBR VTR RC51 Triumph | eBay

On eBay search, when the list of items shows:

Go to "refine", " location " and choose UK only

Your missing the point. They have a way of selling from here. It will be someone living here advertising Chinese stock. They will either already have the stock which saves on postage or they contact their suppliers in Hong Kong who then send the package on. So basically we have Chinese distributors here in the UK. You have to be a little more, now what;s the word I'm looking for, I don't want to say smarter...shrewd, clued up. That's why I said you have to look at the layout/style of the listings.

How much do you reckon for shipping to UK CV23 0RE as a matter of interest? You may need to mark it as a gift or something to circumnavigate our customs & excise duty

**Edit** looks like I have a replacement now, thanks anyway

Doesn't always work like that, plus you are doing yourself out of German or Dutch listings say. On the left half way down, you can specify maximum distance, I normally select 1500 miles, cuts out US & Asian listings
