Are they the Bridgestone Bt016 tyres? There are loads of different Battlax tyres.

If it's the BT016 I have them on the Gsxr. Done 3 track days this year. All 3 were wet days, drying later.

Tyres have been faultless and very grippy both wet and dry.

On the road done Storm Scotland and Wales following Alistair in the fast group. Again they were faultless and very confidence inspiring. Had a little bit of cold tear on them in Wales, but they still gripped perfectly.

I run a 180 55 on the rear.

Its the S20 tyre Ive been offered. Guy is an instructor and used them on his gixer on 1 trackday before switching to Pirelli corsa race tyres which need tyre warmers. He said for a mix of riding the S20 was amongst the very best, quick warm up and good wet or dry.

Ive got Battlax BT021's on my Fazer and they are a bit scary, the back has stepped way out a couple of times on the road. Same on the back of my storm but not pushed them. Want to do a mix of road and track............. cheaply!

Well the BT021 is a sports touring tyre. Not going to give the best grip if you're giving it some welly.

Not 100% sure but the 021 is quite an old tyre too, thought they were up to 023s now?

You are absolutely right, the bt021 is up to 4 year old 'model' but were clearly still being sold last year although they are as you say up to the 023's. Uninspiring ride but if you are commuting, fine. Looking for the stickiest tyre I can on a budget.

Well if the s20 is anything like the BT016 it'll be good.

The S-20 is third in line in the Bridgestone hierarchy of hyper performance tyres, first is the barely legal R-10, then there is the BT-003 RS (RS standing for Racing Street) next comes the S20, it replaces the BT-016 Pro, which itself replaced the BT-016. The S20 sits below the BT-003 RS in terms of outright performance but the phrase 'wet conditions' is used in the firm's description which I guess shows it has a wider remit than the other 2 in the pure sports tyre line-up. BTW one rung below the S20 sits the BT-023 (BT-021 replacement), Bridgestone's popular sports touring tyre, apparently a great allrounder.

With this in mind I’d assume the R-10 is in the mould of the supercorsa or Metz racetec essentially a road legal race tyre, so I’d say within the Bridgestone range it would be the R-10 or maybe the BT-003 RS you should be looking at, I’d guess the S20 would be a very capable fast road tyre but not as track orientated as maybe you need, unless it’s raining !!!
I've now gone all European and bought a KTM Superduke GT and Aprilia RSV1000R :D ,
Storm is now gone  .

Crikey nice overview!!

Ive been offered ex 600 national stock 600 Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa's too, but the guy trying to sell the bridgestones tells me that they need tyre warmers really (I know that's for optimum performance) as he runs them on one of his bikes. Bit confused tbh.

i have a set of diablos on atm and for track day use after a lap or two they are amazing. when they get really warm you can feel them gently slide outa corners and im no Rossi but really easy to go fast on. i had a r10 on the rear before the current ones and they where for a normal rider much the same to be honest.
in saying that for road use i found both types of tyre a bit nervous on public roads unless you keep them warn.

track use yes. road use im not so sure a more normal road type tyre woulnt do the job any worse.
the older i get,the faster i was

it's true supercorsas are more sensitive to temp than regular OE spec tyres and probably would benefit from warmers to ensure optimum grip from the pit lane but as stated above they do warm up quickly and on a warm sunny day that are amazing (road or track), take a couple of miles or laps to work some heat into them and they are fine. On a cold wet day then not so good, within or around their operating performance envelope, grip and feedback are excellent, but the further away from this you get the worse they get, rain particularly standing water is a real no no. On the Yorks Op storm run earlier in the year we had dry roads and sun in the morning but after lunch the heavens opened, I was on supercorsas and went from leading the progressive group on the Ribble viaduct to Hawes road in the dry to slithering about at the back of the pack in the wet.
In a nutshell if you’re doing trackdays or confine your riding to fair summer days with little chance of heavy rain then go for the supercorsas or similar race oriented tyre (Metz racetecs or BT r10s etc) if you plan on riding day in day out then go for the less compromised all-rounder.

I’ve now got the Aprilia and while it’s got nearly Michelin Pilot Power 2ct on at present I’ll most likely change them for supercorsas at the end of spring next year, then hope we have good summer.
