ZX10R - Thumbs up, or thumbs down??

Post by Sharpshooter888 »

Hi all, considering investing my hard earned cash on a ZX10 sometime after new year. Do any of use have the pleasure of owning one, or would you recommend the purchase?

I did have a ZX6R before the storm, and enjoyed the ride, but after owning a beast it feels powerless compared, hence the ZX10R choice!

my friend has a 2006 zx10r, I've had the pleasure of riding it, it's mental, just under 170bhp, his is running an akra system....
the bikes way to small for me, as with most modern bikes, your perched on top of it, I prefer the storm where you sit in the bike. the 10's a great bike tho, typical kwacka, loads of power from a strong engine and gearbox, just make sure you have a clean license mate.... :(

Well been a Honda person since a boy times are changing for Honda not got its own way now as they are flogging a dead horse with the blade so if I had the cash/chance yes I would have the zx10 no problem

Thomas the blade is still a very capable bike, but it will need a big upgrade to match the other manufacturers, more importantly tho, is the other manufacturers have started to catch up with Hondas build quality, partly because Honda like Mercedes in the car world have reduced their quality.
I still love Hondas, but it another company brought out an up to date version of a firestorm, I would have a problem with switching brands.
although the v-twin seems to be out of favour these days, it's more about il4's, triples, parallel twins, and so on.... :(

out all the Hondas I have had thought the years never had a vtwin so this is my 1st twin but I agree with what u say but not on the capability of the blade from a race point of view as they have not won any titles this year in bsb or ama or world bearing in mind u cant include motogp as we are talking about the blade due to other manufactures as u say catching up again its down to a personal preference and was just adding my thought on it

I have the pleasure of owning a 2010 zx10r and my storm (long never ending project)
All I can say is hold on tight ...Very rapid machine which gets you into trouble with the law if you enjoy speed .
I now tend to ride the storm more often as the v twin sounds nicer imo.
Although I can keep up with the zx10r .very much enjoy it but wrists can get a little sore after an hour or so of fluent riding I suppose they arnt really designed for overweight 6ft + people .
But we'll worth the money for what you can pick then up for .can't say I'll be selling mine soon

Nice pic man

Looking at the all black version or even the orange/black model. I believe the early 10 was the maniac model, and then toned down from there on. Million dollar question is do i go for the untamed earlier model, or go for the later ones thats fine tuned for the road(and staying alive)!. Thanks for the advice

Good point also on current hondas, their leaving a lot to be desired IMO and are a big stagnant. Shame really as groing up I always wanted a blade but now it just doesnt appeal, its in current form at least.

just because the blade hasn't done well in completion, doesn't mean it's a bad bike, as a road bike it's still there or there abouts, it does lack the rider aids that most other bikes have. and I think Honda will have to make a real statement with their next blade.
two yrs ago my friend took his gsxr1000 k9 to the ring, he was a regular there for a few years, on the second day of the trip he blagged a few laps on a friends 2010 blade, afterwards he decided to part ex his k9 for a blade, and he loves Suzuki's, but he said the blade was miles better than his k9, sadly the following day he threw his bike at a crash barrier at the ring, and as such never got the chance to part ex it for a blade.
what does sadden me is that Honda don't seem to be keeping up with technology and their build quality isn't as good, a classic case of the accountants taking over.....
