So i havnt got a front paddock stand yet

Post by kev64 »

Ok, wheel powder coated, new Avon storm 2 fitted, looks like I gotta spend more money on a front stand.
now let me think, I got a trolley jack, axle stands ok her goes, a bit precarious
Image
I slackened everything off, Put a block of wood under the centre stand to get the bike nearly upright, then jacked off the sump, when the front wheel was off the ground, holding the bike steady with one hand,
removed front wheel spindle, quickly removed wheel, slid axle stand in, happy days.
Image
Fittng was a little bit more difficult, but the spindle went back in once I got the spacers to stay put.
Image
Pretty pleased with the shiny powder coating , cost £35 and all I had to do was remove valve stem and bearings, stuff painting !!

Good work Kev...

Next time use a large step ladder as an A frame. A scaffold pole across & a couple of ratchet straps, then you can hang the bike safely.

Personally I just hang the bike front or rear off a joist in the MacCave but the principal is the same.

Wicky will be along shortly to show you his gallows...

Or just buy a headstock stand for £45, your bike is worth it!

Nearly Xmas present time..... (I have already dropped some hints about a Domino QA throttle :Stewy: or possibly :deadhorse1: )
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I got an idea about using a piece of 4x4 bolted to the wall and the other end sitting on top of my concrete fence post, then a block and tackle to lift the bike, it would make better sense if I could draw my idea !!!!

Winter project for you - get it down out the loft and build a Meccano bike.
