Main Fuse blown to shreds.... :(

Post by Swifty »

What's hapnen chaps on the island?!

Back in the US, my life sucks due to the fact, that I can't figure out why the main fuse blows out every time I connect the main wiring together (inside the rear cowling) with the batt supply wire. I am stumped, I removed all the major electronic components from under the seat thinking it was on of them...but now I think it's the main relay itself, where the fuse and spare fuse is held...any thoughts?

I was riding on a great afternoon a few weeks back, and after slowly accelerating from a stoplight, Mr. Main Fuse blew out leaving me stranded at 25mph with traffic approaching me! AHHH!! I managed to get off the road, into a parking lot, field stripped the ass-end, and pulled out the blown main fuse, replaced and cranked it over again. About 5 minutes later while it was idling, (as I put the cowling back on) it blew out again, and would consequently, kill every fuse I put in there to present date. Thus the frustration and angry I share with you today!

Thanks, for your time!!!!

The Rectifier/Regulator is the most common cause along with it's protection diode. Get that checked out first. If not, I'm afraid you'll just have to get yourself a meter and start checking for shorts in the wiring looms.
Pain in a$$ wiring faults good luck

that is exactly what has just happened to me....i came out of work and was literally 100 yards and the bike died, all the electrics had gone.i stopped and checked all the fuses and the main fuse had blown.......tried a few more fuses just incase but have narrowed it down to the rectifier, and if it is that then ur in to spend a pretty penny!!hope it helped.
