There are some folks who like to have hot candle wax dribbled on their helmets...never tried it my self so can't really comment...

Waxing is fine. It's painting poly-carbonate lids which is a no nochric wrote:Can you wax your helmet?

I use wax on the visor as it helps the rain bead off
