Engine and exhaust.

Afternoon,
Well Im finally getting around to it, after Storm being sat under a cover for over a year.
Whats the best way to drop the lump out?
Remembering I do still have a bad back!
Ive managed to ease the exhaust header bolts undone, with the aid of some easing oil spray, front fairings off, rads and pipes off.
And do I need any special tools?

Only other question I have is are the exhaust collars front and back the same?
my front one on fubard and was going to make a new one up cut exhaust, slide it on and re weld exhaust as the headers are fine.

Why not make up some split collars, that would save you having to cut and re-weld the headers and the risk of getting them out of line. I'm pretty sure front and back collars are the same.

Now thats a idea, cheers for that Chris, Ive got a mate with a lathe and a milling machine.
Its about time I sorted the storm out!

OK Engine out...

What I did was hoist the bike up via the subframe. Rear wheel & swing arm off...Lower the bike back down onto a crate, headers need to be off so it's sitting on the sump only. Put a ratchet strap though the V & around the crate...

Remove Forks, clocks & subframe.



I was stripping the bike right down so the loom is off as well.

Now all ( ) you have to do is remove the engine bolts. On the left hand side a the 'castle' nuts which do need a special tool, you can make one out of an old socket or they sell them on the bay or you could remove them with a hammer & drift.

The top one is normally the git to get out...good luck heat & a large hammer are your friends here. Top one goes all the way through as dose the bottom one. Then there are two smaller ones one each side in the middle.
