After fitting manual CCTs it will alway's sound 'different' to a paranoid ear - as long as you adjusted the manual tensioners to spec and the result isn't a 'clackety bang rattle' noise indicating that it's too loose or a cam squealling too tight you should be good to go. You can always incremently adjust them (small ¼ turns either way) when fitted just make sure you use thread sealant on the adjuster bolt threads to keep oil drips at bay.
she didn't want to stay running
Check that the vacuum hose on the fuel tap has been reconnected correctly :-)

You might want to reappraise fitting OEM Honda tensioners as despite having different part no than the earlier version they seem no different and just as prone to self-destructing.

dreaded cct after 48hr ownership :-( > http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 23&t=33856
Jun 07, 2014 - The dreaded cct let go bending all 4 valves and bending 2 valve guides aswel as killing the piston .These were changed for oem honda auto tensioners only 4 months ago prior to ownership 800 miles ago .
Did you set the correct engine timing for each cylinder prior to installing each tensioner? What guide did you follow for installation? Did you use a 'key' when fitting each OEM CCT?

So who told you this gem of information then...I'll take a quick stab in the dark...The Honda Parts Salesperson by chance ?

As Wicky said there is no indication of them being any different... apart from an upgrade in the colour of the painted dot on them...

At least pull 'em back out & do the stopper mod...It wont stop them imploding but it will save any damage to the engine.

Then sometime in the future fit some manuals...
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...

So after an eventful rebuild she's back up and running BUT she sounds tapperty still is there a good possibility that the cam chain could have stretched ? has any one else had this happen?

If she sounds tappety, try checking the valve clearances.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Did you take the keys out of the std cct's after fitting?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
