Tyre life before it gets worn

Post by shahwales »

Hi. Got my vtr a few weeks back. The bike was stood for 5 years with very little use. During that time the tyres never got changed.
They are sportmax tyres. When I've been riding I've noticed some slipping...today I had to brake a little hard going over a bump and the front end skipped and shaked. Later coming out of a junction with moderate aggression from a standstill and my back nearly went under me. Saved by the power of balance.

Does anyone think I need to change my tyres as it's been stood for too long? There are no flat spots. ...been checked by honda. Or do I need to warm these up a lot more before giving it some beef?

Bin em if you value your butt! They could be older than 5 year old! Check the date on them, printed on side wall, usually beside DOT (XXXX). First 2 numbers are week, second 2 are the year!

Tyres only late 5 years from when they were made so change them before you have to change the bike and have sponge baths by Dave on ward 5

Lube, no lube, it's your choice .
