Cafe Racer Pics

Post by cheekykev »

Some of you may have noticed I've not been on here much lately, well the reason for this is over the winter months I've been building a Cafe Racer, I've been wanting to do one for years so I finally decided to get my finger out and do one, I used a BMW R80RT as a donor, you know the one, the really big ugly thing with a massive faring and panniers, the police used to use them, I've done all the work myself apart from spraying it, nearly all the parts are cut and shut from the original ones, or I've made to suite, obviously the indicators, mirrors, clip-ons and rear sets were bought, a hell of a lot of work has gone into this bike, but I've finally finished it and I think it was worth every minute, here's some pics.

This is how it was when I bought it

This is now, after many hours of hard graft

Wow, awesome.

Looks like you've really put a ton of effort into that.

Any pics of the work as you're doing it?

Nice build, and good bins!
How does it ride?

As it weighs a lot less now the original suspension would be a bit harsh, I would have thought.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

That is very nice

See plenty of the R series on Pipeburn, BikeExif and the like, some turn out better than others and this is definitely one of the better ones. They often look like they're leaning back a bit but yours looks to be sitting real nice, and love the colour, I would be very happy riding that!
