I read that the new storm will be in 2006-7 and will have the new fully automatic magnetic cam chain tensioners..........no springs just magnets linked to electrics, reating an electromagnetic force..........COOL.
it may be clever, but its not big.

How 'StarTrek' is that!!!
Would love to see an updated Storm hit the market in the ot too distant future... Otherwise it might just fade away before it gets made obsolete...

Magnetic tensioners I thought, how crazy is that!,
Well it's official
I ran off and did a little research and apparently Honda have come up with some way of impregnating the cam chain metal with some super conductor molocule which makes a highly effective electomagnetic force when used with some of that old super conductor stuff which they tried to run high speed trains on a few years ago.
The cool bit is they have their little rod of super conductor down inside the channel where the cam tensioner normally sits, encased in a ceramic housing which virtually makes it frictionless and....wait for it....
Silent 8O (what will a Honda be like without a wrattle I hear you ask yourself).
The rod will be get pushed down its housing and due to the properties of the "doped"(technical word there) cam chain it will keep several microns of free space between the two. Honda claim this will
A. Reduce Wear
B. Enhance the life of the chain
C. Improve engine proformance and
D. Lessen engine noise which they are most proud of with ever tightening noise regulations.(yeah right)
It will all be controlled from the ECU and will adjust itself automatically as the engine not only warms up but as the style of proformance is required (that means ranting it's nuts off to you and me  )

Hows about that for a bit of Star Trek then Boys

She cannae handle it captain..........

Or they could have saved themselves a fortune in development costs and stuck in gear driven cams like the vfr's, which never broke.
Rich.

 True Cuppa
but then we are talking about the same people who put oval pistons and a zillion other trick bits into a sevenfifty.

Why make scence when there's a tecknicloide, impossibly expensive way, to do it :P

Pete.l

"What do you mean it won't work"? Isn't it technical enough?
