My bike came with a pair of new bt-014s now i love bt-010s had them on my cbr600 from knee down in summer to riding in winter no probs.
But these i know new tyres need scrubing in but in the wet these tyres are lethall On way to work this morning wet road going slow biggest slide i have ever had. I know they will be great in the summer i just want to stay in one piece till then
Interesting to hear about the 014's, but also glad to hear you're in one piece.
I'm due a new pair of tyres, and was going to pay a visit to national tyres at barnsley to have some 014s fitted, not heard of them being shite in the wet though, r u sure it was't a diesel spillage or something.
I might have to rethink now, because I do spend a bit of time riding in the wet - it always rains when I go to wales.
Anyone one else had problems in the wet with these tyres? And whats an alternative.
toolkit
T00lkit
Red F2, Scorpion Race Cans, Nuvo Airflow Screen, GSG Moko Crash Protectors, Carbon Hugger by Del, Scottoiler.
Toolkit the first thing you notice on the 14s is the profile they want to be over on their side right away, very sharp.
It was not diesel as the back was sliding on other bends just not as bad as the first. I stoped to look at tyre as it was moving around so much i thought it was flat !
Reading about the tyres online the 14 is the replacement for the 010 but they dont look or behave like them. I have no confidence in them yet
In this months bike mag they have a 600s test and the kawasaki was dropped they said "the bridgestone bt014 tyres are REALLY slippery when they`re cold.
really slippery when cold?thats a stupid statement for people who use a bike all year round....i have metz m1's and have never had a problem...but the cost is high...at the moment from mps theyre £168 a pair +postage...wear rate is good..steel radials.shame about the tyres being useless when cold mate..but some of us have to ride in the winter ,,,,just have to go easy i guess...
I fitted the 014's when I bought my 'storm last year. Don't remember them being slippery in the wet, though you're right when you say they're nothing like the 010's which are superb! I rode up to Croft for a trackday in the pouring rain last June, and didn't have any problems. To be honest I'd only get another set of 014's if the price was right; nothing wrong with them, just not as good as the ones they replace.
Ohlins shock, Goodridge lines, 6-pot calipers, carbon fibre hugger.....and all at someone else's expense!!
