Well I found out you can totally disassemble the tank cap, so.....

Disassambled

Primed white

White Pearl, picture doesn't do it justice though

Better than an anodised one and still locks with original key so happy all round.

Nice, but it's worth noting that the aftermarket ones are 400g lighter...But not lockable
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Chris.

I had a spare that was odd key so purchased a full lock set and took apart the spare one first to make sure it could be done. Only part I couldn't take off was the main flap as there is a spring pin holding it on and no way to drive it out without drilling a hole.

That was a good idea to do before purchasing a full lock set  Thanks for the further info on this,

Wasn't gong to do this until tank was finished but I need opinions. With or without the black? It's vinal at the moment but will be sprayed black if that's the majority.

It's your bike so it's your choice, but my opinion is the same as the others, the black doesn't work in that style.

You could probably get away with a black stripe down the center of the tank and tail section, even a solid line with two margin lines, one either side of the solid line,

I was thinking about a black stripe going round to split the white and orange. Would it still go with the nose I painted if I didn't put black on the tank?
