Try these settings. They are from performance bike.
I found a great improvment over the standard settings. The fornt did feel a cit harf so I backed off the pre load a bit.

Performance Bikes settings Rear Preload - Position 2 Rebound - ¼ of a turn out from full in Front Preload - 2nd groove showing Rebound - ¼ of a turn out from full in

I too run the PB settings............however, I do soften them for around town............front 3 rings and 3/4 turn from hard.

rear second notch and 1/2 out

Only answer is to give them a good Rogering
it may be clever, but its not big.

I'm in the USA, so the specs may differ, but I doubt it.

In that light, one correction:
Factory settings on rebound, both front & rear, is to go clockwise to full hard (hold on now!), then back counter-clockwise one full turn.

I'm eager to try out the Performance settings suggested however.

I got my VTR last October & am still sorting it out. It's not as stable in hard cornering as my old '99 Katana 600 was. It wants to fall to the inside of curves. Then I have steer out to correct for that. :?

Not silly at all. I know exactly where Gallant Fox Court is. My wife & I go to Uno's Chicago Grill very near there every once in a while for the best (IMHO) deepdish pizza.
