Brake pads?

Colleagues,

couple of questions- hope for help from guru's
1. I saw again this "season" that my front wheel rim after average ride getting covered with brown-ish dust (wheels painted yellow, so it is highly visible). Looks like it comes from brakes.
Calipers clean, so I guess it is brake pads residue...does that mean that brake pads too soft or just sh..t?
2. Which brake pads for Storm would you advice - I need non-exotic make which do not produce really dramatic "bite", but just perform better than Honda pads?

EBC HH pads in mine, work fine but leave a deposit on the discs that rusts if left outside in the rain overnight. Clean off at the first application of the brakes though.
