hiya, I'm sort of baffled as to how exactly the vtr clutch works.
I've managed to drain the fluid by accident when I was rebuilding my bike when I took a closer all I can see is that the fluid gets pumped like a brake to a small pot to where a small metal rod is? what happens next? does the rod move in or out and disengage th drive.
Can someone explain in lamen terms of how it works as it would be nice to know.
Thank you.

You are correct. It works as any usual hydraulic engine - fluid pupmed into cylinder where piston moves and pushing rod.
Rod goes through shaft and pushing "out" external plate of clutch, so that clutch plates in "basket" disengage.
