So my bus was making a belt squealy noise after having a new power steering/alternator belt fitted before Christmas.
"Ah, that'll be the tensioner needs doing" they said.
Ok, in it goes and the wife uses my little Suzuki hairdressers jeep thing.
Friday evening she calls me to tell me that the Suzuki has stopped a couple of miles from home in the snow.
No sparks, it appears.
She gets a lift home from a passing local, after a passing tractor tows her to a nearby layby.
I'm heading home on the train, but have suede shoes on (I know, but someone has to set the trends) and so wifey suggests that my daughter comes out to collect me from station.
It's snowing, so I say yes please.
Daughter has never driven in snow before, so wife sits in with her.
While waiting for my lift to arrive, teenage girl asks me if there is going to be replacement buses as the trains are now cancelled.
She's going into the next town, and because a stranger gave wife a lift home I figure what goes round comes round and vice versa, so say we will give her a lift.
We all get in car, but only get half a mile before daughters car exhaust comes off the manifold under the engine and starts dragging on the ground.
We carry on anyway......
Luckily , bus is ready for collection following day, so we swap bus for daughters car and they fit a new full system.
Suzuki, meanwhile, is still parked up in a tiny layby.
Today wife reminds me that it's still there, and the window is still open- no leccy so couldn't close it.....
I'll go and have soon tomorrow to see what's left and get it started.
I've bought a lottery ticket.
Change has gotta come soon.....
Oh, and bus is still squealing.
