Ride Mag issue 101 2003 Firestorm v SP2
Storm
105 bhp @ 9000
71.6 ft lb torque
weight 193kg
0-60 3.78 secs
0-100 7.11 secs
100-0 5.38 secs
SP2
133 bhp
75 ftlb
weight 194
0-60 3.45
0-100 6.89
100-0 5.19 secs
Of course its all lies, damn lies and statistics. Interesting that they only had 0.19 secs difference in the stopping. Before I purchased a Storm I rode a SP2 and the brakes felt loads better than the storm, the riding position was just too much as I get older though.

depends
performance depends on skill.
I saw people on Hornet 600 annihilating ZZR1100 and dragrace, and other way round. And with any bike it is all same.
However, Storm have one figure completely outstanding, few bikes come close. Here we go: 60-80 mph: Storm does it in 2.78. For comparison - SP2 does is in 4.23, all-new ZX10R does it in 2.72 (topping chart), R1 in 2.79
According to magazines Mille does it in 3.8
Interesting that SV1000 does it in 2.8 - VERY close to Storm.
Now, see what happened when mags tested Storms over several years - made me think.
year 1997
10.83 seconds at 127.32 mph
104.8 at 8,750 rpm
year 1998
11.008 seconds @ 125.263 mph
101.8 bhp @ 8500 rpm
Now, here is lower budget magazine and US-specs Storm of 2000:
11.47 @ 119.4
100.7 @ 8250
Infamous Motorcycle News, UK specs 2004:
(typical MCN +/- second or thenth, who cares?)
11.5s @ 119mph
So? Is it bikes that getting softer or test riders that getting "safer"?
Figures....
Somebody here should give it a go and tell us!

Mille
Mille is nice bike, I like it too..but it is soo far from ice-cutting handling of SP, so slower to flick...but more comfortable too.VTR1000KAZ wrote:Pete's mille has an ART end can on it, and I can hear his over my storm ..also fitted with ARTs!Max wrote:My cousin has a mille and its a lovely bike, sounds nice too as he has a full akrapovic on it. I can hear him following me over my art cans.
am contemplating a mille too, as well as the sp2 if I ever have to get rid of the storm for any reason!
About sound - I got oval Arrow cans - I can cover not just Mille with sound, I seem to scare car drivers off the road by slight twist o throttle.

Strange, German police did not want to join me in appreciation of my bike's sound...I wonder why....

hmmz maybe 1997 first model is the quickest hope so cause mine is a 1997 dyno with microns lower fairing etc . this seems to happen with alot of bikes

The guy who did my dyno run and set up my dynojet kit told me that the earlier bikes seem to make more power. On the dyno with hi-level Scorpions (baffles in), K&N and dynojet kit my 2003 `storm is only showing 106bhp and 69lbft torque. This compares to a stock 2003 `storm which he ran on the same dyno at 100bhp and 62lbft. I trust his word because he does the dyno runs for most of the bike magazines. Whatever, it fuels more cleanly and takes off at around 6000rpm like it didn`t before so I am not complaining.
.... no more bike, divorce sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now here is an interesting list of numbers: http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/146_perf_nums/#honda (ignore the US Army pop-up)
Have a look at the VTR's 60-80mph then look at the new Fireblade & Blackbird not bad hé?!
