Its a case of diminishing returns from this point first few kgs are easy GRP bodywork lithium battery give big savings but then it's little bits and bobs a few grams here and there I may have to have a limb amputated to make any further worthwhile savings 😁

so how much weight do you think you have lost off the std bike?

Carbon wheels will save you 8-9 kg, ti bolt set another 1kg, more if you replace spindles.
After that you're right, tiny bits here and there adding up incrementally.
Go on, get those bst wheels ordered, you can't take it with you...

Tony, That version of RSV has super light OZ forged wheels, so the saving to Carbon will be much less than the 8 or 9 kg.

I got one of the front wheels for mine and it is 2.5kg compared to the stock one which is over 5kg. Seems to wheelie more for some reason

Alistair is right while there is a saving with carbon wheels it's not as great a saving as you may expect the OZ wheels are pretty light to start with so apart from not been able to afford £2K ++ it's not particularly money well spent, I think I'll cut down on the pies instead 😁
How much weight have I saved ? Not entirely sure but at least 10kg probably ( hopefully) abit more, the battery alone is 2kg and the mille headlight is a good chunk of weight so another decent saving there and the GRP is considerably lighter than oe plastics so more there but I suppose the true test is if it feels lighter on the road, whatever the actual amount I'm hoping it should be noticeable.

Not that I know a great deal about it but I'm lead to believe that a major advantage of lighter wheels, apart from static weight, is dynamic weight. They are more responsive to suspension movement have smaller gyroscopic forces acting.

Have you shown this on the apriliaforum? It would blow their wee minds!

Adding carbon Dymag rims to my bike totally transformed the riding experience. It now feels like riding a 250, it changes directions with lightning quickness and ease. Bear in mind, too, that I was coming off PVM magnesium wheels too (which are already significantly lighter than stock). It`s been said many times but it`s the single best improvement you can make to any bike...
