Let's be honest - I'm probably a timewaster

Try again - I really do think I'm going to buy another Firestorm this time. They'll keep up with owt on the roads - in the right hands. These hands! :) :)

I'm having trouble bringing myself to buy a cheap one - have you seen the state of the downpipes??

I can't easily find new replacements at a reasonable cost - anybody know of them rotting through?

The main problem is the flange on the front header, but if you speak to Wicky he may have some of this stainless steel split flanges left. The headers themselves are made in stainless steel (although not the best quality) so don't rust out. One other problem you may encounter when removing the headers from the front cylinder is seized nuts/studs. If you're lucky you can use a nut splitter to just remove the seized nuts then replace just the nuts. If you're looking at a bike check out the front cylinder header nuts/studs for corrosion/rust,

Chris.

There's no time like the present :biggrin

The biggest issue for me with older bikes right now is the not only the rise in fuel costs but discrimination over eco-friendly and governments wanting us all to go out and spend money on either Euro4 or Electric along with their built in tracking devices and soon to be GPS control over our speed limits. I'm looking forward to the day when a Firestorm is officially a classic bike and tax exempt as well the eco (emissions) charges.
