Just to say hi to everyone.
Not only new to this forum but any forum so please bare with me.
Sorry to jump to the point but:
Have been the owner of a 52 plate blue Firestorm for three years with only 4500 miles on it thats been off the road for a year.
I started it a few days ago and it was running very ruffly whist throwing out petrol from what looked like vent pipes under the carbs.
has anyone experienced this problem before or can shed any light on it please?
Many thanks.
Alan.

Welcome Aboard :D
Is it fresh fuel in the bike or old? If it's been sat for a year I'd be thinking
a: has the fuel gone off and it's just running like crap
b: old fuel might have gummed up the carbs and they need stipping and cleaning.

I'd be really tempted to just replace the fuel and bung a load of carb cleaner through it and see how that goes. If it doesn't get you anywhere then I would be sripping and cleaning the carbs.

hi
Just to let you know how i got on with your advice on tackling my fuel leak.
I changed the fuel for fresh and flushed carbs out with cleaner, unfortunately this had no affect :(
So completely stripped carbs down. Flushed cleaned and blew out everything, only thing i could find was one of the idle jets were completely blocked.
I put it back together and it started first time, ran perfectly and no leak, dry as a bone :)
So a big thank you for your advice Pete.
Now all i need is a dry ish day so i can road test it< might be waiting a while!
I'm going to replace the tyres as the ones on it are the originals, 17 years old, any ideas on which ones to go for?
Thanks again.
Alan

Great news thanks for the update :D
As for tyres, you will get as many answers as there are manufactures.
Personally I'm enjoying the Michelin Road 5's at the moment. Excellent grip in both the wet and the dry and good mileage.

Hi Alan - fellow firestorm newbie here and doing a recommisson my self, including tyres.

There will be as many recommendations as replies I guess and not really any poor tyres anymore, but for me Michelin Pilot Power 2CT is all the tyre you will ever need for the road. Just had a pair delivered at £165.

Nice when it's a simple fix, just a lot of work to get to those jets!
Pr4s just fitted replacing old bt023's. They'll handle my slow pace easily🤣.

Well done in getting it fixed

Thanks for letting us know

I think tyres depend a lot on personal choice depending on how you ride and what you want from your tyres, plus your budget of course. Also if you ride all year round you'll probably need something that is good in all weathers, not just the summer,

Chris.

Thanks for all the tyre advice guys, I've gone for Pilot Powers.
I'm a fair weather and steady rider so should be sticky enough.
Now just hoping for some fair weather. :cool2
