Just as a matter of interest.
I was out yesterday in Yorkshire, found a great road you lot might want to take in on your routes.
From Skipton-On-Swale take the B6267 to Masham, then take the A6108 to Layburn, then the A684 to Hawes.
Great run that way, or in reverse because your lodging close to Hawes.

kev, any suggested changes?

yorkshire route suggestion
Looks OK to me Al, I'd probably suggest while you were over to the East side of the ride, you might as well nip over to Whitby via Pickering, and take in Goathland (where Heart Beat) was filmed on your way back.
There's plenty of fish and chip shops, and ice cream parlours Whitby, the weather forecast looks good, so an ice cream stop might be welcome.

are there any spare beds for Fri night? I was thinking maybe ride up sat am but thinking about it, it would be easier to ride up Friday and stay over, unfortunately have a prior commitment Sat night so would have to bail mid Sat afternoon
