Hello from Belgium

Hello!

I'm 44 and live in Belgium. I own a 2004 red firestorm since 2008 but due to family reason, I left it for about 5 years in my garage.

This year, being able to be back on the road, I bought a 2020 MTO9. But I though my VTR deserve to take the road again.

After 5 years, the fuel tank is of course completely corroded :( But even with low mechanic abilities, I decided to bring it back to life.

I hope I'll be able to find some help here ;) The tank is removed, being ready for a treatement (fuel filter is dead, waiting for the new one). The carbs will be cleaned and all the fluids changed. And then I hope I will be able to ride again with it!

Welcome in.

I was supposed to be going to the Ardennes this year but covid stopped that, hopefully next year I can do the trip, the roads look great out there with lots of things to see too

Hi, good luck with your project.
I recently refurbished a tank and it's quite easy using one of the kits available.
You can always put a fuel filter in each fuel line to catch any stray bits. If you use clear ones you can see if there is anything likely to cause problems.

If it's just gummed up from stale fuel, the kits have solvents to remove it, and the resin seals in any traces left in hard to reach corners.

Ardennes is the place with the most beautifull roads, but sometimes, the surface is not in a very good shape :(

Hope you'll enjoy your journey, once it's again possible. This Covid is really a PITA...
