Lloydie’s blade

When I joined this great forum way back when I had a fireblade 1995 and shortly after I swapped it for a firestorm ,you all know what happened with that lol.
So here I am gone full cycle and have another fireblade all be it a 97model and as the prices of these are on the up I had to get one sooner rather than later as I feel the blade and I have unfinished business .
I picked this one up of a mate who brought it a year or two ago with the intention to restore it and hold onto it till the prices went shy high but his recent purchase of a vj22 RGV 250 ment he was short on space so offered it to me .

It’s a cbr900rrv 918 with a one or two bits already done like the R2 nitron shock , 17” front wheel , 99 blade front callipers ,K&n dyno jet kit . And meant to have k-tech forks (I’ll see when I service them) .
So all in all it’s a good start to turn it into a classic track day bike .
My intentions with the build will be to have it ready towards the end of next winter due to my shopping list being long and expensive (I’m not doing this one on the cheap)

So for my shopping list so far is

4-2-1 blackwidow exhaust or Akrapovic
Race fairings
Samco hoses
Aluminium racing radiator
Race rear sets
Mossfett R&R
Dymag wheels
Service the rear shock and forks .
Tyres
Right switch gear
Dyno tune
S/S bolts
Paint job
And do all the little jobs

After I picked it up I removed all the body work and boxed it up for later if I ever put it on the road .
I’ve removed nearly all the anodised tat now and started to remove some of the parts of it to give it a good clean before the full strip down .

Just finished cleaning the carbs . All went well except two mixture screws put up a hell of a fight and now will need replaced .
The inlet rubbers have gone very hard too so I’ll order them as well .
On the down side the carbs are standard and not fitted with a dyno jet kit like the man said so now I’m doubting wether the forks have been k-tech’ed but I’ll find out for sure when I take them to k-tech for a service and get them to check them .

Wicked! Looking forward to following your progress Lloydie.

I'd say that's a lucky save getting those mixture screws out!

I hope so as I can spend the moment my elsewhere on the bike but I’ve planned for them to be standard and get them sorted . If they’re standard I’ll only put the build back a pay check or two so no real biggie

I should think they did put up a fight, well saved Lloydie

Fingers crossed on the possible re-worked forks,

Chris.
