Fuel in oil

Post by bingo808 »

Hi everyone.
I have sold my 1999 Vtr1000F. Didn't get as much as I wanted but it's gone now.
Question. New owner told me that she drained the engine oil and what came out was like water and smelt fuelly.
Could it possibly be a leaking fuel tap or something with the carnies?
Someone put it together, so I should be able to pull it apart.

Carnies = carbies :?:

It's possible petrol could be bypassing the diaphragm petrol tap and if one of the float valves are not sealing properly flooding the carb resulting in petrol getting into the cylinder. From there over time it would seep down past the piston rings and end up in the oil.

The diaphragm in the petrol tap needs to be checked, also the float valve in each carb,

Chris.
