Yes but no... Start up cost are huge.... A van for starters, public liability insurance...Then the stock, advertising...

Even going back to a pest control company is more agg than it's worth...

So sometime in the next week or 2 I'll find out if I have a job offer or not.

Not sure I'll bother TBH. Basic maths shows that over a 28 day period. 4 On 4 0ff you do 16 days.

On the new 5 day Monday to Friday you do 21 days...For the same money.

Over the year that works out to 60 more days ... For the same money.

We have just been given a pay rise which pushes up the basic a bit.

But I haven't had the figures yet re deductions so don't know me take home after Tax NI & pension.

As no one will be on site on Sat or Sun but transporters will still be brining cars & vans* in I can see the Monday mornings being a sh1t show.

* They have a new contract to refurb Amazon delivery vans... So far about 10 have come on site & they are smashed to bits some have damage to every panel including the roof ! Our latest arrivals have the added bonus of bottles of HGV wine ... Nice.

I was told on Thursday that my application to stay on as a yardie has not been granted. So I'm being made redundant ! However this was an informal meeting, I still have the formal meeting on Wednesday next week :confused

Seems strange to me that they give you the good news but expect you to still turn up for work & carry on as if nothing has happened...

I may or may not cause a bit of mischief on the last few days...

I'm certainly not busting me balls anymore... I've already written ''BAC Sucks'' in the dirt on the back of one of the vans in storage... :P

It wont Chris, it would seem the the decision has been made.

It is what it is.

As said It's just strange that informally they have already told me ?

It's politics & favouritism, some new positions have been created to keep certain people in jobs.

I'm not really bothered TBH as I can see it being a sh1t show...

Apparently the site will still be open for transporters bringing in vehicles over the weekend, so Monday mornings will be a mess for the yard to clear up whilst transporters will still be coming in.

At the moment over the 2 shifts there are 18 of us & it's going down to only 7 ! Good luck with that...

Ah I see what you mean, unfortunately not an uncommon situation sadly.

I wish you well in finding something better Mac,

Chris.
