Hi everyone,

Wanted to quickly introduce myself. I’m Chris, 41, and I am a bike-a-holic 😜.

Owned a 1998 vtr1000 for about a month now, it was an impulse buy off of Facebook and bought as a daily commuter (and yes, I know I’m a massive tit because they’re thirsty, but luckily I only work six miles from home)

The bike I bought is a bit of a pasty, but I’ve managed to find a very patient chap who is also a member on here who has kindly offered his support in my endeavours toward making it more reliable.

I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and if you live near Swindon (thankfully I’m not an indigenous swindonian yet live here so I do have some failings I guess) please get in touch.

Many thanks

Chris

Thanks for all of the welcomes chaps!

My aim for the next twelve months is to learn as much ‘spannering’ on this bike whilst also using it daily, (weekends ideally excluded - (very dependent on my dear darling boss)

Regarding the reliable member I’ve found, it’s his judge of character that is likely to be in question as I will surely test his patience over the coming months.

Ed however has been very kind enough to offer me a stock shock he has had hidden in his garage as mine has most assuredly given up the ghost, but has also introduced me to a chap that sells split flanges which I have duly brought the last one.

So, over the next few weeks I am hoping to replace the shock (with Ed’s assistance hopefully) and also pull the front header off, give it a scrub and refit with this lovely new flange 😃.
