Finally got a Firestorm

Post by Harveyz »

Being a recent convert to twins (love my sv650 mini twin) - I fancied a Firestorm for a while and this one fell in my lap - its a 2000 bike but had a lot of mids. - 2022 body work/ clocks/ 19l tank mod - Giles rear sets +. Wilber shock and fork re-valved + MCT's. - looking forward to tinkering further - I've got some spare callipers off a 954 Fireblade are they an improvement over stock?

Welcome aboard
You have a lovely looking bike there 8)

Looking at the photo, it already has upgraded front brake calipers, not OEM stock,

welcome along sir, nice bike and as said it already has blade/cbr600 calipers fitted, you could fit a 6mm shock spacer, makes them steer more like a modern bike
the older i get,the faster i was

Thanks for the welcome - checked brakes and it’s also got the 954 master cylinder mod - thought the brakes seemed good- only done 26k but has the surging on steady throttle issue - after extensive reading on the forum going plug change then TPS check - if still an issue it’s off with the carbs and into the ultrasonic cleaner.

With the 954 master cylinder and brake calipers you have a very good set-up there 8)
